CREATIVE AND PERFORMING ARTS
In the area of music, our students are offered the possibility of rising up the grades of performance and expertise, defined by the London College of Music, in their chosen instrument.
MUSIC & CHOIR
Each year, Cambridge College students participate in presentations as soloists, as well as in musical groups and the school orchestra, including participation in the prestigious annual music festival organized by New Acropolis.
Furthermore, students are offered the possibility of progressing through the grades of instrument performance in examinations conducted by the London College of Music. Students who, at a younger age, have taken initial examinations in a variety of instruments – flute, saxophone, clarinet, guitar, violin and snare drum – have the opportunity to obtain higher qualifications during their final years at Cambridge College.
The Cambridge College choir, in particular, has for many years enjoyed outstanding success both at the New Acropolis festival and in the London College of Music examinations.
A particular highlight of any school year is the presentation of the School Play. This is performed in our outstanding Performing Arts Centre, and is a delight for the whole of the school community.
Cambridge College also participates in the annual One Act Play Festival of the British Schools of Peru, which is always very varied and entertaining. On several occasions, the Festival has been hosted, with great success, on our own stage.
Not only do our theatre groups entertain with a high degree of thespian ability, but the performances also raise funds for projects supported by Cambridge Action, our social responsibility committee.
Similarly, one of the most anticipated presentations at the end of the year is the Dance Festival, which brings together students, both girls and boys, from Early Learning School, Junior School, Middle School and Senior School to celebrate Peruvian, regional and world culture in movement and rhythm.
Cambridge College students are fascinated and inspired by the visual arts. They participate in competitions run by the Art Department, and we see their work around the school, and in digital exhibitions, throughout the year. Participation in the annual British Schools’ art exhibition is a particular honour which motivates many of our best talents.
